I read this book for use in my English Literature coursework, and I really quite enjoyed it.The introduction and first few chapters are brilliant; it is amazing to think that Wollstonecraft came up with these ideas in the late 1700s; and that she had the bravery to publish them. Her criticisms of famous male (and indeed female) anti-women writers are also very clever; especially her picking apart of the arguments made by Rousseau. Perhaps the only thing that is really at fault with the book is the repetition of ideas; this may be a stylistic device or it could be typical of essays at the time (I haven't read any others), but for a modern reader it can be a little tiresome reading the same ideas over and over.All in all, Wollstonecraft is a good writer, with some startlingly modern sentiments.
